(Without Me – Eminem)

Hello there!

I have to say that as I sit on the couch with my purple blanket all comfy and snug, it feels GREAT to finally be on vacation/Holiday/Mid-term break/or whatever you may call it from University. Another year of 6 stressful-and-busy months have flown past within a blink of an eye…yet none of us would have actually said that during any of those past months. To be stress-free, work-free and demand-free even for just these few weeks comes as such a relief, and to recharge and recuperate.

SO, I don’t apologise for the sillyness that is me in the above photo. Plus, accompanying me whilst I write this post is the Charlie’s Angels movie on my TV. This movie is an all-timer, there’s no way you could get tired of it. I’m at the part where Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore are dressed as men trying to enter that super secure volt. If you have no idea what I’m going on about – do yourself a favour and please go find this movie now!

As I mentioned “TV” – I am back home in Durban indeed. Mom’s food, the comfort of my own bed and bathroom, time with family, and honestly being spoilt & fed so much. It’s nice being an only daughter. 😛

Now, seeing as I have more free time, more me-time and more thinking time; I guess I can figure out just what I’ll be posting about. I’m trying to find my way okay… don’t hate – appreciate…while you wait 😛 Fine…I’ll stop there.

Thank you for reading this nonsensical post – but I think it did make a bit of sense…Yes?

(I need coffee)

But,that’s all for now Folks/Lovelies/Friends/Bloggers/Humans!

Stay tuned!

The PICTURESQUE view that is UCT

The University of Cape Town

I feel incredibly blessed that I attend the top ranked university in Africa. UCT most certainly holds a class of beauty and academics of its own.

Not only do we as students experience almost all seasons in a day most of the time, but there is just so much more to this damn FINE institution I’m able to call a second home.

The colours on campus be it in the morning or evening, always captivate me into thinking how is this beauty even possible.

And yes, my morning essential is a cup of coffee to accompany me on my walk to the other side of campus. You might understand this if you actually imagine yourself at 7:15am trying to walk a distance in a sleepy state trying to wake your body up. COFFEE is KEY! Self -proclaimed coffee addict? maybe.

So, here is a glimpse into the images that form my daily walk on Campus.

You can see and judge for yourself the beauty that is UCT

Nothing like Momma’s cooking… BUT I can try!

Cooked by me. (I DID IT!  & also took a whole lot of pictures to prove it.)

Living away from home has certainly come with freedom and responsibilities – among them cooking for yourself to survive. Okay, I’m exaggerating since there is fast food places at almost every corner – but there really is no food like Home Food, or actually “Mom’s food.”

If there’s one thing you should know about me and my attitude towards food – its SPICY all the way! I grew up loving spicy food from when I was a toddler (so I’m told) and I’ve just grown up loving the taste of really extra-hot food. And no this is not a stereotypical Indian thing at all (I just don’t agree to say that it is, anyway). BUT – yes, I do have a love for curry dishes!

So, along with my weekly efforts of cooking, I decided to be spontaneous and make Chicken curry – courtesy of my Mom’s recipe. Seriously, what would we do without our Mothers! I have to say, the curry turned out pretty amazing; mouthwatering aromas, melting-moment potatoes and an all round perfect meal with rice.

My advice to you – Be adventurous, daring and brave enough to tackle your mom’s recipes head on! It will most definitely reduce the pining for home-cooked food…a little at least.

Greetings, because EXAMS!

Hi, there!

My name is Serita. I am 20 and from the beautiful country South Africa.

Spontaneous and compulsive are two words that come to mind when I try to explain the birth of this blog. In the mind of a student, nothing screams procrastination like the internet – Escaping the word-filled pages of work for just a bit should suffice as a break, right? Well, I think so. Hence, the image of my very first post – ESCAPIST.

At this moment in time, I’m not entirely sure what the content of this blog will include; but what I do hope it does is give you an insight into my thoughts, activities and just life in general!

(and to those of you who are also writing or trying to meet deadlines – Your procrastination break ends now.)
